Our Handicrafts

Products to create Life

In 2000, we started producing hand-made goods, as a means to generate income for the orphanage. We use plants harvested on our property to naturally dye materials, which are then cut and sewn in our sewing room. Our products are all original designs and include, clothes, handbags, decorative items, trinkets and much more. We use hand-woven fabrics, hill-tribe beads and many other unique features in our products.

We hope that shoppers will like the sophisticated designs and high quality of our products. Income from sales go towards supporting Ban Rom Sai, as well as hill-tribe women and HIV-infected workers, who help sew and adorn some of the products. So, one purchase can go a long towards supporting many people!

*Products made at Ban Rom Sai are sold primarily during special fund-raising exhibits in galleries and department stores in Japan. Ban Rom Sai currently has one retail outlet in Kamakura (Japan), as well as several retail stores in Thailand, which stock our products.
* NPO Ban Rom Sai Japan support products sales.

Various forms of creation

Handicrafts made at Ban Rom Sai are created by local seamstresses and female hill-tribe weavers in our special sewing room. These handicrafts only help raise funds for Ban Rom Sai, but also allow disadvantaged women to earn a living. The sewing room is also a place, where children at Ban Rom Sai interested in handicrafts can learn how to sew and weave.

Since beginning the handicraft project, many artists and craftsmen have visited Ban Rom Sai. Some have come to teach skills to our workers, other have come to interact with our children and show them the pleasures of painting, pottery – simply, the joy of making things by hand.

We are also happy to announce that the numbers of collaborative projects are also increasing. For example, we now have paper products that feature the children's artwork, handbags that were finished by Japanese craftsmen using fabric woven at Ban Rom Sai, items that use special fabric woven by women in Cambodia and much more.
Under our ‘let’s make something together’ motto, we are able to transform our handicrafts into something unique and meaningful.
In this way, we would like to collaborate with as many artists and creators as possible, under the‘Ban Rom Sai +’ project.

* Please contact us via mail or telephone, if you are interested in collaborating with us, using our exhibition room, displaying at our permanent retail shop, share handicraft ideas or help us design new handicrafts.
